Three Book Launch Events in Five Days–Whew!
Thanks to Central Park Coffee, Little Professor Book Center, and Learning Rx—Owatonna Fitness for hosting me as I sold and signed copies of my second novel, Straight River. Events during Minnesota winters are always iffy because of the possibility of bad weather, but I got lucky and didn’t have to cancel an event. (Lesson learned, schedule future book launches in Spring, Summer or Fall!)
The highlight of the book launch at Central Park Coffee was making my donation of $300 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern MN. The amount represents $1.00 per copy sold plus round-up and free-will donations for sales in 2018. I was humbled and amazed by the generosity of my readers. When asked to round up their purchase price, I estimate 99% of the buyers agreed to do so and did it with a smile on their face.
The highlight of my book signing at Learning Rx/Owatonna Fitness was having a “sales assistant,” my Little Brother Ethan! He’s helped me sell books at previous book signings including some Big Brothers Big Sisters events. The kid’s a natural-born salesman. He’s not shy in the least about approaching anyone who comes into the venues to buy a book. Also, he doesn’t just say, “Will you buy a book?” And then he explains in detail that I donate a significant amount of my sales profits to BBBS. The money helps fund activities for Littles and Big and helps the staff recruit more Bigs for children who are on the waiting list for Bigs.
I’ve got plenty of events coming up in the future. Check my Events & Appearances page for the dates, places, and times. Additionally, I’m available to meet in person with your book club to discuss either Straight River or Castle Danger. My first book club scheduled for the end of March. I’ll happily travel up to one hundred miles to meet with your group. Just drop me a note at chrisnorburywriter@gmail.com or catch me around town if you live in the Owatonna area.
