Next Up: Austin ArtWorks Festival

Straight River Book Tour–Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019

The Austin ArtWorks Festival is a terrific two-day art, book, and music festival in the small yet vibrant town of Austin, Minnesota (headquarters of Hormel and home of the SPAM Museum). I’ll be one of ten authors presenting their work and talking about writing over the two days of the festival–August 24-25–at Sweet Reads Books on N. Main St (across the street from the SPAM Museum). Mark your calendars. I’m speaking at 1:00 pm on Sunday, Aug. 25 at Sweet Reads.

In addition to me, two of my favorite authors, Allen Eskens and William Kent Krueger, will also give presentations at Sweet Reads. Besides having my books for sale–Straight River and Castle Danger, I’ll give a PowerPoint presentation titled; “Everything you always wanted to know about writing a novel, but were afraid to ask.” Get answers to questions like, “How much do authors earn per book? Per year?” What does it cost to produce a book?” “Do awards help sales?” “How does a book achieve best-seller status?” and more.

I participated two years ago and enjoyed meeting local readers. I walked around a bit but didn’t see nearly all the festival has to offer. This year I plan to spend a lot more time at the Festival. Check the AAWF website for the schedule and plan to spend an entire day taking in the authors, art, food, music, and fun.

I’ll see you there.
