On The Road Again

I’ll be on the road again next weekend for two of my favorite events. First, I’ll be selling and signing books at the wonderfully charming Beagle & Wolf Books & Bindery in Park Rapids, MN on Friday, Aug. 12, from 1 pm to 3 pm. To make it even more festive, I’ll be joined by two author colleagues that afternoon who will also have their books available to buy: Jason Lee Willis and Christine Husom. Click on their names to check out their websites.

Then it’s over to nearby Hackensack for the fabulous Northwoods Arts Council’s Art & Book Festival on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 9 am to 3 pm.

Recap

Downtown Thursday on North Cedar Avenue last night was a blast. This photo was taken right after I set up my book table. It got super busy at 5:00 all the way until the finish at 8:30. Lots of food, music, vendors, people watching, and enjoying a perfect summer evening.

The renovated 100-300 blocks are almost finished and will look fantastic. The new Marriott Courtyard hotel on the 200 block had its Grand Opening yesterday and will attract more businesses to fill the vacant storefronts downtown.

I met some old friends, made some new fans, and sold plenty of books. I’m incredibly grateful for all the unsolicited positive comments I receive from customers who come back to buy my new book or have read it and told me how much they liked one or more. I’m not getting rich in the author business, but I consider myself successful for bringing so many readers a few hours of enjoyment and escape from their real worlds. Thank you all.

Upcoming Events

After next weekend, I won’t be on the road again for book appearances until October when I travel to Mankato for the Deep Valley Book Festival.

Don’t Forget–A New Option for Reading Dangerous Straits

Some of you may know that my first two books have been available at participating Minnesota libraries through Indie Minnesota. It’s a collection of books from local indie authors available exclusively on the BiblioBoard Library mobile and web platform. This collection is available to patrons of participating libraries in MN. Now I’m pleased to announce that Dangerous Straits is also available through Indie Minnesota.

So if you’re budget doesn’t allow you to purchase books and you prefer reading eBooks, you can borrow an e-version of Dangerous Straits from your participating MN library for free. “Not fair to me?” I hear you ask. Relax. I don’t lose a book sale. Actually, I receive a small commission periodically from BiblioBoard based on the number of borrows there have been for each book. It’s a win-win situation. Click on the Indie Minnesota logo below to borrow a copy of Dangerous Straits in electronic form.

Keep posting those online reviews! Every review helps increase the visibility of my books. That translates to more sales and a bigger donation to BBBS of Southern MN at the end of the year!
