It’s a Big One
My final live event of the year for the “Dangerous Straits Book Launch Tour” happens in less than two weeks. It’s the GSR Fine Art Festival in Mankato, MN, on Saturday and Sunday, November 26-27, at the Mankato Civic Center. I’ve enjoyed this event twice before because it’s so well run and I’ve had good sales numbers. The weekend after Thanksgiving is a good time for shopping. I also appreciate that Saturday is Small Business Saturday, which showcases shopping at and supporting local businesses.
Why the question mark in the title? I’m still waiting to hear if I’ve been accepted to participate in an event in early December. If I have, I’ll let you know. Check my Events & Appearances Page for updates.
More Authors This Year
I was part of the first Book Nook at the GSR back in 2019. Then we only had four or five authors and were squeezed into a small corner of the huge showroom. Still, traffic was good, and many art shoppers stopped into the Book Nook and bought books. The festival was canceled in 2020 due to COVID but came back strong last year with another handful of authors. Because of the success of the artists and their wanting more space, combined with greater interest from authors, the Book Nook is expanding to an entire room across the lobby from the artists’ area. I’m pleased to tell you that there will be SEVENTEEN AUTHORS participating this year! Genres represented include children’s, memoirs, historical fiction/adventure, mystery and thrillers, humor, paranormal romance, fantasy, romance, history, and Young Adult (YA).
I’ll be there selling and signing all four of my books

I’d love to finish strong and add to my record-breaking sales number for 2022. I’ve been blown away by how many of you have made a point of telling me how much you enjoyed reading one or more of my books. THANK YOU. Sincere enjoyment by you is worth far more than the money I make through sales. I certainly wouldn’t continue writing if no on liked what I wrote.
If you can’t make it to GSR, don’t forget you can purchase signed copies of all my books by clicking on the Buy Button below.
My next project is taking shape
It’s a departure from the Matt Lanier series. (Don’t worry! Matt and friends will be back in the future.) I’m trying my hand at a Middle-Grade adventure novel featuring a Little Brother and Big Brother as co-protagonists. (As in Big Brother Big Sisters) I’ve wanted to write this story ever since I published my first book and realized I was a competent writer through sales and reviews. It’s finally happening. I’ve recruited several beta readers who will give me feedback on the overall story quality. If those critiques are generally positive and don’t collectively send me back to the proverbial drawing board, I hope to publish “Little Mountain, Big Trouble” (working title) in the first half of 2023.
For a teaser, the “Little Mountain” in the story is Eagle Mountain, the highest point in Minnesota. Located in the Arrowhead region of northern MN, the story takes me back to a place I love writing about, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The “Big Trouble” in the story is when the Little Brother and Big Brother attempt to climb this peak. On the surface, it seems like an easy climb, but as I know from experience, anytime you venture into the wilderness, things can go wrong quickly. Stay tuned for updates on the publishing process.
