AND THE WINNER IS . . .

Not me

Darn the luck. I had a 33% chance of being the winner of the 2024 Midwest Independent Publishers Association (MiPA) Midwest Book Award for Young Adult Fiction on Saturday. But alas, it was not to be. Congratulations to all the winners in the various categories.

The awards gala was lots of fun. My wife and I met several authors, including the other two finalists in my category. The appetizers were tasty; the wine was decent, and the venue (a large meeting room in Mall of America) was spacious and the sound was good. The Emcee did a fine job of keeping the presentations moving along because there were thirty-one categories of books, both fiction and non-fiction.

That might have been my first and only writing awards gala. I’m not much for big crowds and noisy socializing. But I’m glad I participated once.

Quick Recap

Last week’s MN Author Showcase at Painted Prairie Vineyard and Winery in Currie, MN was tons of fun. The drive was long, but the weather was good. The venue is beautiful and peaceful. The event organizers did a good job, although it was a tad hot under the early evening sun. But lots of folks made the long drive to the middle of nowhere to buy books from ten Minnesota authors, including me.

The Faribault Heritage Days celebration on June 14-15 was a 50/50 deal. Great weather on Friday. Stormy forecast for most of Saturday. So I bailed on Saturday because paper books and rain do not mix. If you went on Saturday, looking to buy books from me, I apologize. But that’s one reason I offer signed copies of all my books for the same price I charge at my live events, plus I pay the shipping cost. Please use this LINK to order copies if you didn’t get a chance to buy from me on Saturday, June 15.

Reviews

Thanks for keeping them trickling in for the trilogy.

But I could still use more for Little Mountain, Big Trouble. My goal is to get to 50 total combined reviews on all review sites before the end of 2024, especially Goodreads.com and Amazon.com. If you’ve read the book, loved it or hated it or anything in between, please consider posting an honest few sentences about LMBT. It’s the best way for readers to find the book other than word of mouth . . . so don’t stop doing that either! :-)

Little Mountain, Big Trouble print cover

I want more than anything to tell the world about Little Mountain, Big Trouble and get it into the hands of young readers who are at that age where they’re deciding if they’ll be lifelong readers or not. If even one young reader is inspired by LMBT to read more books for themselves, I’ll be able to call my writing career successful.

So please leave a star rating or a short review (One or two sentences is enough!) at your favorite online review sites. It only takes a few minutes, and I truly appreciate your effort. Thanks.
