One Step Closer to the Win

Contest Update

Little Mountain, Big Trouble is one step closer to winning the Chanticleer International Book Awards Gertrude Warner Prize for Middle Grade Fiction. (Whew! What a mouthful.) I just learned that the book reached the Semifinals. The Chanticleer Awards are a long process with seven steps needed to become the ultimate award winner. But LMBT is more than halfway there now.

Little Mountain, Big Trouble print coverStay tuned for the announcement of the Finalists in the coming months. I got to that level with Straight River back in 2020. I hope I can take Little Mountain, Big Trouble one step closer to a win in 2024. Wish me luck!

Don’t Miss My First Public Event of 2024

I’ll be at one of my favorite venues, the Robert Trail Library in Rosemount this week. Make sure to stop by on Thursday, January 18, at 6:30 to hear me talk about LMBT at the Rosemount Area Arts Council ongoing Meet the Author series. The RAAC is a wonderful advocacy organization for artists of all types. As usual, I’ll be selling and signing books after my presentation and the Q&A.

Reviews

My goal in 2024 is to accumulate at least 50 reviews and/or ratings for Little Mountain, Big Trouble. Even though sales were xcellent in 2023, the number of reviews lagged behind what I expected based on sales. Perhaps it’s because a lot of kids read the book and aren’t old enough to have a Goodreads.com or Amazon.com account. Still, reviews help sell books, and I’d especially love for as many middle-graders as possible to read this book.

If you’d like to help me promote what I believe is my best book to date, please consider writing and posting an online review on behalf of the young person in your life who read LMBT. You don’t even have to write the review. You can just pass on what the young reader said about the book. Best of all, encouraging them to participate in the new gatekeeping of literature by the actual readers instead of the Big Five publishers will empower them to keep reading and sharing their opinions with the world.
